Base Isolation

Why Base Isolation?

Function

The rubber component in the High Damping Rubber Bearing & Lead Rubber Bearing are important components for building and bridge isolation in high seismic areas. It is very flexible horizontally, however, somewhat rigid vertically. This rigid behavior derives from the thin layers of rubber reinforced by steel shims. Through this composition the isolator can shift laterally with almost no inflexibility, but also, accommodating high axial loads.  When a lead is placed at the bearing’s core, a damping mechanism is provided.  Rubber isolators offer very efficient long lasting performance with little maintenance required.
