Strip Seal Joint

Accommodates 0-80 mm of movement

Strip Seal is a mechanical device adapted for sealing an elongated gap formed between two adjacent road slab sections by providing a continuous support for vehicles crossing the gap while allowing the desired temperature responsive movement of the road slab sections.  A single elastomeric neoprene rubber strip is secured to the adjacent roads sections on either side of the gap through heavy duty edge beams under a specially designed profile.

The Strip Seal Expansion Joint is mechanically secured between the space straddling the gap guaranteeing water tightness and also preventing ingress of debris and corrosives which otherwise cold damage the superstructure and substructure components.  The planned operative movement range of the Strip Seal Expansion Joint is from 0-80 mm.  Movements more than 80 mm can be accommodated by using a series of 80 mm openings (see modular).

TechStar’s Strip Seal Expansion Joint System is generally designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with AASHTO LRFD.
